How WaMu Created A Blowout Incentive Experience


Eleven hundred winners of Washington Mutual’s in-house incentive programs invaded Big Island in Hawaii for the President’s Club event, which featured sessions and events aimed at driving future sales—and inspiring others in the company to achieve President’s Club status.

The event’s first day kicked off with a Pure Aloha-themed general session stage set. At an Asian Aloha-themed awards dinner that evening, WaMu spokesman and hoops legend Magic Johnson interviewed attendees on the red carpet, while live feeds were beamed to plasma screens throughout the venue. A traditional Hawaiian warrior-themed presentation kicked off day two, and an ’80s dance party blowout capped off the festivities that night. (Magic even sat in with the band for a few tunes.) Of the attendees who responded to a post-event survey, 96 percent said they were satisfied or extremely happy with the program.
