AR Meets Projection Mapping
Projection mapping seemingly transforms objects or environments by overlaying an image on the object’s surface with light. Augmented reality is the process of using GPS or visual markers that allow a computer or mobile device to superimpose virtual material onto live video. While applications of either technology have been limited, a company called Metaio has figured out a way to combine them by adding tiny projectors that allow mapped projections to follow a product’s movement while maintaining accurate branded or technical imaging.
